Hey there! I’m Kelly and I currently live in beautiful San Diego, California. On a boat! With my flippy-floppies. Yep. It’s dreamy. I live with my totally rad husband and our feisty sphynx cat. As a military family, we’ve been blessed with lots of adventures from moving around. I started this blog while living in Japan, so you’ll find some unusual ingredients in
some (most!) of my recipes. As an anime and video game fan, living in Japan for 3 years was pretty magical.
I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist who specializes in Ayurveda, a holistic health system predating modern medicine. I’ll be finishing up an Ayurvedic practitioner course this summer and look forward to offering consultations very soon. I love cooking, herbal projects and fermenting things. What I don’t love are the endless dirty dishes that two people generate in our home. I also enjoy yoga, heart-based meditation, and reading.
We like to eat real food…you know, the kind your grandmother would recognize.
It’s been an interesting journey with food over the past few years. I’ve experimented with all sorts of dietary changes in an effort to heal from eczema and asthma. I’ve experimented with diets that are: gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, yeast-free, vegetarian, pescatarian and flexitarian. These experiences have taught me about eating whole foods, local foods, and traditionally prepared foods. Most importantly, I’ve discovered which foods make me feel better (and ones that make me feel worse). I’ve learned a lot and I’d like to share my journey, along with recipes and tips for healthy living.
You can expect to find real food recipes here, as well as things made from scratch, and herbal preparations of ingredients that you probably have around the house. You will find Ayurvedic information and recipes that can be tailored to your constitution. You will be encouraged to take charge of your health, and naturally, you can do-it-yourself.
Thank you for reading. Please send me a message on my contact page if you wish to arrange a consultation or massage appointment.
