Konnichiwa! I’m Kelly and I live in Iwakuni, Japan. My totally rad husband and our feisty sphynx cat moved here from Okinawa this past June. As a military family, the frequent moves bless us with abundant learning opportunities while living overseas, like the finer points of pantomime and driving on the opposite side of the road. I’m not going to lie, it’s pretty fabulous.
I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant who specializes in Ayurveda, a holistic health system predating modern medicine. I love cooking, herbal projects and fermenting things. What I don’t love are the endless dirty dishes that two people generate in this house. I also enjoy yoga, running, and reading about nutrition.
We like to eat real food…you know, the kind your grandmother would recognize.
It’s been an interesting journey with food over the past few years. I’ve experimented with all sorts of dietary changes in an effort to lose weight and heal from eczema and asthma. Yay! Success! I’ve experimented with diets that are: gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, yeast-free, vegetarian, pescatarian and flexatarian. These experiences have taught me about eating whole foods, local foods, and traditionally prepared foods. Most importantly, I’ve discovered which foods make me feel better (and ones that make me feel worse). I’ve learned a lot and I’d like to share my journey, along with recipes and tips for healthy living.
You can expect to find real food recipes here, as well as things made from scratch, and herbal preparations of ingredients that you probably have around the house. You will find Ayurvedic information and recipes that can be tailored to your constitution. You will be encouraged to take charge of your health, and naturally, you can do-it-yourself.
Thank you for reading. Please send me a message on my contact page if you wish to arrange a nutrition consultation or massage appointment.
